The Mobile Voting Project (MVP) deeply values our donors and their sustaining support of our mission. We take the stewardship of our donations and donors very seriously and believe a strong privacy policy is essential to showing respect for the generosity of those who make our work possible. This privacy policy aims to give you information on how MVP collects and processes personal data through the use of this website. We also provide you with the opportunity to remove your name from our mailing list, if you desire to do so.
This policy applies only to personal data collected through our website. It does not apply to any third-party sites that may link to, or be accessible from, our website. Your interactions with third-party sites are governed by those parties’ applicable privacy notices, statements, or policies.
Information Collected by Our Website
We collect your personal data when you voluntarily provide it to us. For example, you may choose to give us your email address or other contact information, including your address, zip code or phone number. It is always your choice whether to provide this personal data. You may not provide personal data about others unless you are authorized or required to do so by contract or applicable law
We may collect some personal data automatically. For example, when you visit our website, we may collect your Internet Protocol (IP) address, Internet service provider (ISP), and browser type and language. We also may use cookies and similar technologies to collect data about your interaction with our website, including referring webpage, pages visited on our site, date and time of your visit to our website, or whether you are a repeat visitor to our website. However, note that portions of our website may not function properly if you disable cookies.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors under the age of 13. We encourage parents to participate actively in their childrens’ Internet browsing activity. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a minor, we will take steps to delete the data without notice as soon as possible.
How Information Is Used
We may use your personal data for legitimate and carefully considered business purposes including: to send you information you have expressly chosen to receive; to administer and inform our program strategies and charitable activities; to administer, safeguard, and improve our sites, systems, facilities, and other business operations; to protect our rights and the safety of others; to contribute to our archive of information in the public interest; and/or to comply with applicable law, court order, subpoena, or legal process served on us.
We may share your personal data with our employees, agents, and affiliates who have a business need to know, our services providers (including contingent workers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and out-sourced service providers) to process it for us based on our instructions and for no other purpose, and with partners that are collaborating with us on our projects. We do not share your personal data with any third party (including our service providers) for marketing purposes. If you believe personal data you provided to us is being misused by a third party, please contact us. We may share your personal data with law enforcement, other government agencies or authorities, or third parties as required by applicable law, court order, subpoena, or legal process served on us.
Information Collected for Donations
To process donations, MVP collects the following types of donor information:
Contact information: Name, physical address, and email address
Payment information: Type and amount of donation, credit card number and expiration date, billing contact physical address, email, and phone number
No Storage of Credit Card Information
MVP uses a certified, Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant system called “Stripe” to process payments, and we do not store or keep any credit card numbers. All card numbers are encrypted and stored on separate servers. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and does not share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services. No Sharing of Personal Information
MVP will not sell, rent, lease, or otherwise share your personal information to other organizations. We assure you that the identity of all our donors will be kept confidential. Use of donor information will be limited to the internal purposes of MVP and only to further the work of MVP.
Information Security
As the transmission of data via the internet is not completely secure, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to our sites and any such transmission is at your own risk. However, we maintain appropriate technical and organizational measures, including performing regular self-assessments, to prevent unauthorized disclosure of, or access to, personal data. We limit access to personal data and require that employees authorized to access personal data maintain the confidentiality of that data. We hold our service providers to at least the same data privacy and security standards to which we hold ourselves.
Removing Your Name from Our Mailing List
It is our desire to not send unwanted mail to our donors. You can opt-out of donation appeals by clicking "unsubscribe" on an email donation appeal or by contacting us at info@mobilevoting.org.
